SYNOPSIS

Harper- Sometimes I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Lewis Carol wrote that. Ever since I read it, I try to do the same on mornings that I remember to. This particular morning made me think of it. Not sure why. Nothing particularly different about today.

Harper McKinley, a young woman who isn't afraid to speak whatevers on her mind, has no job, a relationship that isn't going anywhere, and a wish to speed up time so she could find a better meaning to her boring binge-drinking life. Oliver Thomas, a young adult prone to anxiety attacks, has a successful job but longs for better meaning to his life, for the only thing that matters to him is his very mature nine year old daughter, Sophie.

Meanwhile, Time (our vein Ruler of the Universe) and Grim (our sweet Goddess of Death) are world's most famous mythological couple, living in the clock tower of a Victorian library in New York City with their seven animals (our silly 7 deadly sins). Time and Grim love each other so much, manipulating the world together so that everything moves forward as it should. However, they have grown tired of their immortal obligations and long to live together like a normal couple who watch Netflix and eat pizza. There was a prophecy written stating that Time and Death's successors, Oliver and Harper, would take over for them. After running into each other at a bar nine years after they've last seen each other, they fall into a black hole that leads to the library. There, Time and Grim reveal their fate through a fun (and quite vein) presentation on the beginning of the universe and their destinies that need to be fulfilled.

A non-believer in destiny, Harper and Oliver realize that perhaps they just had a drunken night out and attempt to continue on with their lives. But after Time finally tricks them into opening a time capsule that they buried as kids, the world freezes over and Harper gains Time's powers unwillingly. Harper's feeling of betrayal and Oliver's fear of loosing Sophie fuel them both to team up to figure out how to make the world go back to normal, all while knowing they are destined to obtain powers they don't even understand.

Time- Why do people love me but hate you?

Death- Because you are a beautiful lie and I am a painful truth.
